Welcome Message
It is our great honor and privilege to invite you to the 4th Sino-CPLP Symposium on Natural Medicine and Biodiversity Resources (SNMBR) & the International Forum on Research and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry (Macao), to be held on 2-5 December 2022 at the University of Macau, Macao, China. We advocate collaboration to promote the novel perspectives and views in the field of biodiversity resources, medicinal plant research, and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine industry.
The 4th SNMBR will host keynote speeches and invited lectures by prestigious academics and scientists, as well as short presentation and poster sessions prepared by young scientists/students, all of which focusing on scientific frontiers in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy, biodiversity resources, and industrial innovations in natural medicinal products, functional foods, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and laboratory thinking under the scope of COVID-19 and beyond. This joint event will provide a dynamic platform for international delegates of diverse research expertise to share and exchange scientific findings and novel ideas. Additionally, it will promote new collaborative projects for the discovery and development of biodiversity resources, such as medicinal plants, and TCM industry. Taking “The belt and road” initiative in consideration, it will be a privileged forum to promote communication and collaboration on natural products and traditional medicine among international research and industry partners from China and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
Macao is located on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta, south of the Guangdong Province, China. As an important part of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Macao serves as a bridge between mainland China and foreign countries. The recent two decades of revolutionary changes in TCM education, research and industry in Macao has offered a great opportunity for cooperation between the GBA and Portuguese-speaking countries. A Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of collaboration between Guangdong and Macao is developed, operated and managed as a joint venture between Macao and Hengqin, Zhuhai. The legislation for the registration and management of TCM in Macao has opened an opportunity for the development of TCM products in this territory, possibly expanding into the GBA market in future. The establishment of the Drug Administration Bureau, restructuring of the Health Bureau and setting up of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medical Service Development provide a dedicated regulatory platform and clear policy guidance for TCM development.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we sincerely hope that you will find the 4th SNMBR enlightening and inspiring. Academics, scientists, clinicians, entrepreneurs and students who are interested in biodiversity resources, medicinal plants and TCM industry development from all over the world are expected to gather together in Macao to enjoy an exciting scientific and cultural program. We look forward to greeting you at the conference. Let’s bring on the fruitful and insightful interactions and collaboration for the advancement in natural medicinal products and TCM developments.
