He also developed cutting-edge drug screening technologies, including genomics and zebrafish disease models, which have made an impact in terms of the discovery of new therapeutic agents from natural products. His dedication to education and research in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology has leaded to over 300 scholarly articles, including Nature Genetics and Nature Communications (4\u00d7), supervision of 60+ postgraduates (&gt;20 PhD) and over ten granted patents.<\/p>\n<p>He is a life member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge and has been granted honorary professorship by various universities around the world. He has served as a committee member for different professional associations (e.g. Chair of Council, Macau Pharmacology Association; Executive President, Consortium of &#8216;Belt and Road&#8217; and Portuguese-Speaking Countries for Natural Medicine Innovation (Macao); Committee Member of Neuropsychopharmacology, and Committee Member of Pharmacology on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine, Chinese Pharmacological Society; Cooperation Partner, WHO Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine<em>, <\/em>Health Bureau of Macao SAR government; Technical Expert of Accreditation Assessment for the Innovation and Technology Commission of Hong Kong SAR government).<\/p>\n<p>He is the founder of a \u201cBioEdu\u201d program, which has received financially support from the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (Macau SAR Government) for the past 10 years (2007-present), to provide a broad range of science education services, including training workshops on cutting edge biotechnology, to over 40,000 teacher and student participants in Macau. Also, his research on \u201cApplication of zebrafish in drug screening for treatment of cardiovascular diseases\u201d was selected as one of the most popular research projects during an activity entitled \u201cScience is by your side: Vote for Your Favorite Local Science Researches\u201d, held at Macao Science Center in 2009, which eventually has developed into a \u201cZebraEdu\u201d outreach program.
