We advocate collaboration to promote the novel perspectives and views in the field of biodiversity resources, medicinal plant research, and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine industry.
The 4th SNMBR will host keynote speeches and invited lectures by prestigious academics and scientists, as well as short presentation and poster sessions prepared by young scientists/students, all of which focusing on scientific frontiers in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy, biodiversity resources, and industrial innovations in natural medicinal products, functional foods, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and laboratory thinking under the scope of COVID-19 and beyond. This joint event will provide a dynamic platform for international delegates of diverse research expertise to share and exchange scientific findings and novel ideas. Additionally, it will promote new collaborative projects for the discovery and development of biodiversity resources, such as medicinal plants, and TCM industry. Taking “The belt and road” initiative in consideration, it will be a privileged forum to promote communication and collaboration on natural products and traditional medicine among international research and industry partners from China and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
Macao is located on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta, south of the Guangdong Province, China. As an important part of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Macao serves as a bridge between mainland China and foreign countries. The recent two decades of revolutionary changes in TCM education, research and industry in Macao has offered a great opportunity for cooperation between the GBA and Portuguese-speaking countries. A Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of collaboration between Guangdong and Macao is developed, operated and managed as a joint venture between Macao and Hengqin, Zhuhai. The legislation for the registration and management of TCM in Macao has opened an opportunity for the development of TCM products in this territory, possibly expanding into the GBA market in future. The establishment of the Drug Administration Bureau, restructuring of the Health Bureau and setting up of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medical Service Development provide a dedicated regulatory platform and clear policy guidance for TCM development.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we sincerely hope that you will find the 4th SNMBR enlightening and inspiring. Academics, scientists, clinicians, entrepreneurs and students who are interested in biodiversity resources, medicinal plants and TCM industry development from all over the world are expected to gather together in Macao to enjoy an exciting scientific and cultural program. We look forward to greeting you at the conference. Let’s bring on the fruitful and insightful interactions and collaboration for the advancement in natural medicinal products and TCM developments.
Organizers
Chinese Pharmacological Society
Macau Pharmacology Association

Co-organizers
State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau
Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology, University of Minho
China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Association of Natural Products and Bioeconomy (Macao)
Consortium of ‘Belt and Road’ and Portuguese-Speaking Countries for Natural Medicine Innovation (Macao)
Sino-Portugal TCM international cooperation center, Affiliated TCM Hospital of Southwest Medical University
Shaanxi University of Technology (State Key Laboratory of Biological Resources and Ecological Environment of Qinba Area & International Cooperation Base in S&T, Shaanxi)
Macao Association for Scientific Cooperation between China and Portuguese Speaking Countries

Supporting Organizations
Guangdong Pharmacological Society
Macau Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics
Macao Society for Medicinal Administration
BGI Research
China National GeneBank
National Alliance of Science and Technology Innovation for Food Derived from Natural Medicinal Resources
Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
The Chinese Medicine Experimental Pharmacology Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Association of Chinese Medicine

Organizing Committee
Honorary Chair
Yitao Wang (Editor-in-Chief for Chinese Medicine; University of Macau, Macao, China)
Xin Chen (University of Macau, Macao, China)

Conference Chairs
Yongxiang Zhang (Chinese Pharmacological Society, and Beijing Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Beijing, China)
Simon, Ming Yuen LEE (University of Macau, Macao, China)

Conference Vice Chairs
Alberto C.P. Dias (University of Minho, Braga, Portugal)
Guanhua Du (Chinese Pharmacological Society, and Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China)
Norberto Peporine Lopes (Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences; University of Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Qiong Wang (Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, China)
Shuwen Liu (Guangdong Pharmacological Society, and Southern Medical University)
Weihong Cong (Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Beijing, China)
Wenxia Zhou (Chinese Pharmacological Society, and Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing, China)
Xiaoying Zhang (Shaanxi University of Technology, Hanzhong, China and University of Minho, Braga, Portugal)

Organizing Committee Members
Anna, Wai-San Cheang (University of Macau, Macao, China)
David Gonçalves (University of Saint Joseph, Macao Association for Scientific Cooperation between China and Portuguese Speaking Countries, Macao, China)
Guozhen Cui (Zhuhai Campus of Zunyi Medical University, Zhuhai, China)
Henry, Hoi Yee Tong (Macao Polytechnic University, Macao, China)
Hao Hu (University of Macau, Macao, China)
Olivia F.
